How to Reduce Lead Times for Power and Components in Europe: A Proven Approach

The market reality

The challenge is rarely "finding a part." It's finding the right part with a credible delivery plan—without delaying your project.

A workflow that actually works

1. RFQs without gaps Include: part number, revision, key parameters, whether substitutions are allowed, quantity, required delivery date, and delivery address.
2. Parallel supply scenarios

  • Baseline: standard channel / standard lead time
  • Accelerated: approved alternative brand or series
  • Backup: different package / form factor (if acceptable)

3. Alternatives must be compatible, not just "similar" They must match critical electrical, thermal, EMC, and mechanical constraints—and be truly available.
4. Risk management upfront Define origin, completeness, inspection, packaging, return terms, and warranty expectations early.
5. Commercial offer "for a project," not just a price Include: price + lead time + alternatives + delivery terms.

Where time is lost most often

  • RFQs with missing requirements ("just quote an equivalent")
  • Substitutions not allowed, but schedule is non-negotiable
  • No plan B or C
  • Logistics and documents handled at the very end

Share a short parts list/BOM, quantities, and required dates—we’ll revert with the best lead-time scenario and viable alternatives.
